An Attack From The Pulpit

I have just been informed that today, during the 6 pm Mass at San Policarpo in my old hometown, my name has been raised in anger by an infuriated curate. This appears to be a consequence of my stand against the demolition of the right wall of the old church to give way to what I personally believe is a misguided expansion plan ... I cast my proverbial glove into this arena and say "It has begun...".

    • Cabuyao - Stories, Anecdotes and Remniscences I was sent a message tonight by a reputable source, a Cabuyeño who used to be in the "diplomatic service and formerly stationed in Rome"... he was not personally present but promised to check the details and get back to me with the information.

    • AAnnette Romana Mercado Why do they have to demolish the right wall of the old church? if just for an expansion, I don't think that is right. Eh what kind of expansion ba?
      November 14 at 3:07am ·

    • Boyet Ganzon Para yatang hindi na tamang gibain yung old wall ng simbahan kasama na yan sa mga ancestral domain ng Cabuyao, dapat yan may public consultation sana sa lahat ng concern dito wag kayong pumayag..

    • Cabuyao - Stories, Anecdotes and Remniscences The expansion, Annette, will build a right wing that is expected to seat around 150 additional people at a time, thus providing more parishioners with seating space in a growing parish. But I think there should be a discussion on other possible options that would avoid blasting a hole on the wall and possibly hitting a buttress of the structure in the process.

    • James Francis Bermudez Flores kung expansion dn lng pala, might as well maghanap nlng ng ibang spot wag lng gagalawin ung simbahan. The Church has witnessed so many historical activities during it's hey days..
      November 14 at 8:43am ·

    • Boyet Ganzon Wala dapat gibain sa ating simbahan para lamang sa sariling kagustuhan. siguro kung ang aim nila ay Restoration ng old structure payag pa ako, we can have a protest if ever na ituloy yan sasama ako kahit ganito ang condition ko.

    • AAnnette Romana Mercado in our church here, the space is also limited. what the parish did is add an adjoining room (without tearing the walls down) where they have big screens and good audio so the people who are seated there can still hear and see the actual mass itself. There's a door that connects the adjoining room to the main church floor where people can go in to receive the holy eucharist. Most of the time doon na kami nakaka-upo kc pinoy ako, laging late LOL.. and I don't feel left out seating there. I could still feel the holy spirit gracing all the people there as if we where in the main church floor.

    • Cabuyao - Stories, Anecdotes and Remniscences That is an option...and part of my point really is that there must be other alternatives to the one that is being driven and have these options really been explored in consultative discussions on the project? Have there been consultative discussions at all? I believe that these are legitimate questions that need to be asked...

    • Cabuyao - Stories, Anecdotes and Remniscences I hope awareness and discussions will happen, whether officially or informally, among groups of the laity and interested citizens to review the pros and cons of this proposed project. It is a commitment to good stewardship that issues affecting the common good be the subject of intelligent and respectful dialogue among Cabuyeños...

    • Kevz Romualdbermz sir, last sunday, i was informed by a lot of people regarding the humiliation that curate did to me... instead of having the homily related to the gospel, i was the topic... even in my own barangay were he celebrated the mass he disgraced me in public... he even told parishioners that my opposition against him resulted to the death of my Grandfather...'na-KARMA' daw po ako... my family was outraged by this but we went mum on the issue and waited until my grandfather is to be buried... now i break my silence!!! he uses the pulpit to spread the word of shame and fear to many so that they will avoid opposition to his rule...

    • Kevz Romualdbermz yesterday afternoon,i was in san sebastian church in manila about to hear mass when a good friend sent me a text message regarding yet another humiliating sunday for me... but this time he mentioned you and others involved in the discussion shared at the parish facebook page included to that 6pm mass....

    • Cabuyao - Stories, Anecdotes and Remniscences I have received information about this myself, Kevin. My advice, if you are willing to take it, comes straight from Scripture: (Colossians 3:13) Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you...

    • James Francis Bermudez Flores U mean everyone who commented on this topic?
      November 14 at 7:06pm ·

    • James Francis Bermudez Flores Well if that's d case, he is getting into a war... mga tga cabuyao po ang mkakalaban nya dto pag natuloy ang planong yan.. Yeah ive heard nga ung issue tungkol sayo kevin for my own personal opinion, i think it's not very civil nmn kung kinakailangan pang iaanonce ung pangalan in front of the cabuyenos. Now my question is wat is he trying to impose? Is he adolf hitler or something? Im sorry to flare out like this but i think its too much.

    • Cabuyao - Stories, Anecdotes and Remniscences I am inspired when I hear this messages from those who are simply too young to remember everything that the old Church has witnessed throughout Cabuyao's history and yet manifest this kind of determination to conserve and protect what the ancient Church is and stands for...you are the future of Cabuyao and its history is very much in your hands as it is in ours!

    • Kevz Romualdbermz Pope Julius II, builder of d great basilica of st. Peter in rome said: sometimes prayer is not sufficient, immediate action is necessary! Madami na ding naiinis dahil kung tutuusin, hndi na kasama sa misa ang topic na ito...
